Your body is created to heal itself. That is the purpose of your immune system. Mostly it is just a matter of enough time for the immune system to kick in and create antibodies, or rebuild damages tissue or whatever is needed from it, and the body can return to equilibrium. Which means that while we may become injured, develop pain our of nowhere, or become ill, within a reasonably short period of time, we should be able to get well again. Unfortunately most of us have experienced times when something is just not healing as it should. At these times something else is needed to jump start our healing system. It could be that something is lacking in the body, e.g. the building blocks needed to heal, such as vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids etc. It could be that one of your systems is not working as it should – flow of oxygen, blood, lymph, energy. It could be that your body has created this pain or illness as a result of something emotional that needs to be dealt with. Some stressor, either emotional or physical is either creating illness or pain, on interfering with your ability to heal. It could be that your body is faced with something that is simply cannot cope with or heal from without some external intervention, or even despite external intervention.
When you are struggling to heal emotionally, (be it something in yourself, your relationship to your partner, parents or the world) there can be many factors at play. What is happening physiologically in the brain, what is happening in terms of your long term patterns, your habits, conditioning and thinking. What survival pattern have been set up that you relapse into when you are faced with a stressor. What is the memory of all of that in your physical and energy body.
What is Kinesiology…
Kinesiology is a way of jump starting your body’s natural healing system. What is special about it, is it uses a way of interrogating your unconscious brain to establish what the mind-body system needs in order to heal. With this information the practitioner is able to use various non-invasive, gentle techniques to identify and correct imbalances in the emotional, chemical and structural systems of the body, thereby facilitating effective natural healing.
Guided by your body’s innate intelligence (using a technique called muscle testing), Kinesiology is able to establish what your body needs to engage its natural ability to heal. Kinesiology incorporates techniques from many different modalities, such as acupressure, energy medicine, NLP, Chiropractory, physical therapy, nutrition, massage, and many, many more. Some of these techniques you may recognize and others may be unexpected and unusual. The art of Kinesiology is in using these different techniques to unlock the bodies healing potential.
Self healing and the mind body connection
Generally speaking, most people think of the body and mind as two separate systems, that function for the most part independently of each other. If we take a moment to consider how strongly emotional states affect your physical state, we can see that there is, in fact, an inescapable interconnectedness between what we are thinking and feeling, and the state of our physical body. Take anger for instants. When you feel the emotions of anger, it is not just in your head, but all the way down to your fingertips. Trembling, heat, heart beat, your body is right there with your feelings.
When we are unwell, there is more often the not, something going on in terms of mental or emotional content to that illness. That mental or emotional content can be involved in allowing our healing system to not function as it should – thereby allowing us to become unwell or it may stop it from working as it should to heal if it is not also addressed.

Kinesiology supports and stimulates self healing. This is an important awareness to bear in mind when visiting a Kinesiologist. There are times when your involvement in the process, your willingness to dig deep, and to make changes in your life will make all the difference to the outcome of the session. At times the simple process of the physical corrections is sufficient, but at other times, you will need to understand and work in your own emotional landscape, or be asked to make lifestyle changes to support your healing. This is not something that is just done to you, but a guided journey into healing. The more involved and invested in your own healing you are, the more likely the sessions are to be successful for you.
